Calaveras County is like something out of a J.R.R. Tolkien novel where there’s no communication to the outside world and the medieval landscape is overrun with woodland creatures. Its untouched, endless mountains and forests are breathtakingly beautiful and you feel almost transported back to a land far, far away.
