Turlock police, CHP plan extra DUI patrols for Cinco de Mayo

TURLOCK - Cinco de Mayo is a special opportunity to gather with friends and co-workers for chips, salsa and Margaritas, celebrating California’s rich cultural diversity. It is also a night when dangerous and often deadly outcomes occur because another impaired driver hits the road drunk.

Stanislaus County’s "AVOID the 12 DUI Task Force" will be deploying additional patrols onto city streets while California Highway Patrol will be saturating the freeways and unincorporated communities. They will be looking for the signs of a drunk driver.

Ok folks, we want to know...where have you been able to find the cheapest gas in Oakdale? We want to hear from you!

In the comments section below, tell us where and when you found cheaper gas, compared to the $4.25+ prices per gallon we are seeing most everywhere nowadays.

Oakdale Soroptimist to host 'Motor Madness' March 26

OAKDALE - Get your motor running for Motor Madness, an annual event sponsored by Soroptimist International of Oakdale. Dubbed the city's largest fundraising event, Motor Madness will take place on March 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Bianchi Community Center.

Tickets cost $100 and admit two adults to an evening of fantastic hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer tasting. The grand door prize is a Harley Davidson "Fat Boy."

Turlock PD unveils traffic safety Facebook page

TURLOCK - The Turlock Police Department Traffic Safety Unit has created a Facebook page to be used as a channel of communication with the public. The title of the page is “Turlock Police Traffic Safety Unit.”

There will be several updates a week with helpful traffic safety tips, such as turning on your headlights when it is raining. Also, locations with high collision rates and high violation rates will be listed. The page will inform the public as to special enforcement locations as well as violations the Traffic Safety Unit will be focusing on.

The mission of the Traffic Safety Unit is to reduce collision related injuries and deaths. In 2009, Californians spent an amazing $24,000,000,000 on vehicle collisions. This Facebook page will be used a way of providing instant and accessible education to the public.
