YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CA - Searchers continue to look for a small plane last detected on radar over Yosemite National Park on Monday afternoon.
The aircraft was piloted by Nicol Wilson who was flying from Santa Barbara to Mammoth Lakes Airport, said Yosemite spokeswoman Kari Cobb. The plane was last observed flying near North Dome in the park.
Weather hampered search efforts Tuesday but Wednesday, a California Highway Patrol helicopter and Civil Air Patrol (CAP)flew over hundreds of miles over the roughly 600 square miles of the search area. Cobb said no sign of the plane has been found and more than a foot of new snow has fallen in the higher elevations.
She said the rugged terrain is inaccessible by foot but the aerial search was ongoing Thursday.
Cobb said approximately 60 personnel with the CHP, CAP and Yosemite's Search and Rescue teams were involved.
