Body found in Stanislaus Co. ravine sparks homicide investigation | News
STANISLAUS COUNTY - A discovery of human remains in Del Puerto Canyon sparked a homicide investigation in Stanislaus County on Saturday.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department was called to an area near mile marker 12 before 6:30 p.m. after what was believed to be a deceased person was discovered in the ravine.
Deputies climbed 300 feet down from the roadway into the ravine and confirmed the remains were indeed human.
Investigators worked through the night and determined that the victim is an adult male. However, autopsy results will be needed to determine the cause of death and to provide any information regarding when the death occurred.
The Sheriff's Department says that this is the third body found in the area in the last 10 months. August 4th, Carlos Martinez of San Jose and another man were found in Del Puerto Canyon. No arrests have been made in that case.
Detectives say that it is too early to determine if there is any connection between this current death investigation and the double homicide investigation from early August.
Anyone with information about this investigation can call Detective Jon McQueary at 209-525-7099. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
