Stanislaus County Fair opens Friday!

TURLOCK - Get ready to celebrate 100 years of family fun at the Stanislaus County Fair this weekend!

The Stanislaus County Fair opens on Friday, July 15 for a 10-day run. The 72-acre fairgrounds is located at 900 North Broadway in Turlock. Now celebrating its 100 year, fair officials have been working year round to plan for the centennial celebration.

“This year’s fair is a centennial extravaganza,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “We are excited to celebrate the fair’s long-standing history, as well as introduce some great new additions to our Fair guests’ experience.”

New this year is the Official StanCoFair mobile App for an interactive Fair experience. This App is both Android and iPhone compatible. Anyone who wishes to download it for free can search for “StanCoFair” in the App store.

Turlock PD urges participation in National Night Out Aug. 2

TURLOCK - On Tuesday, August 2, neighborhoods throughout Turlock are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “28th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Turlock Police Department, will involve over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 36 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime”. 

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. In 2010, the City of Turlock won an award from the National Association of Town Watch for an exceptional second year of participation in the program.

TURLOCK - The popular mobile scavenger hunt game is back again at the 2011 Stanislaus County Fair.

Everyone is invited to play the game at this year's fair. Potential players can join in by texting “FAIR” to 728647. The winner will receive an iPad and four Disneyland Park Hopper tickets from KAT Country 103 and a Stanislaus County Fair 100 Year Pass. The 2011 Stanislaus County Fair SCVNGR game is sponsored by Mocse Credit Union and Valley Yellow Pages.

“We are thrilled to bring this popular mobile game back for a second year,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “Guests with a sense of adventure can text in at anytime and the game will start on July 15.”

SCVNGR is a mobile game that can be played by anyone with a cell phone. The game enables anyone to quickly and easily play with any mobile device while having a fun, interactive experience at the fair. The game will take place all 10 days of the Stanislaus County Fair.
