Boy, 15, among 2 killed in Oakdale shooting | Crime

OAKDALE, CA - A local man has been arrested in a shooting near the Oakdale Market Sunday night that killed a 15-year-old teen and a 20-year-old man.
According to an Oakdale Police Department press release, an officer was patrolling the area near 311 East I Street around 9:05 p.m. when gunfire was heard in the vicinity of the market. The officer drove to the area to investigate and saw multiple people in the parking lot of a business and two individuals on the ground.
Medical responders were called and declared Ruben Mora Jr., 15, of Oakdale, dead at the scene. Abel Calderon, 20, also of Oakdale, was transported to a nearby emergency room where he died of his injuries, said police.
Detectives, with the assistance of Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies, identified Ryan Neal Mazzariello, 25, of Oakdale, as a suspect in the shooting, said police.
Investigators also recovered the gun believed used in the shootings at the market scene.
Authorities located Mazzariello at a home in Oakdale where he surrendered and was arrested on two counts of homicide. Mazzariello was booked into Stanislaus County Jail.
Detectives said they have learned the suspect has a military background.
What led up to the shootings was unclear.
