Affordable "Green" Housing Breaks Ground in Turlock

Affordable "Green" Housing Breaks Ground in Turlock

Turlock, CA - On Wednesday, March 28th, EAH Housing and the City of Turlock will break ground on Avena Bella, an 80 unit affordable housing property designed for working families, which features some of the latest innovations in green building. The groundbreaking event will be held at 12 pm at the property's future location: 500 West Linwood Avenue, Turlock, CA.

Developing Avena Bella will be a public/private joint-venture between the City of Turlock and the nonprofit developer EAH Housing. The two organizations came together to address a dire need for more affordable housing in the region.

"Avena Bella is the type of development our city needs. Turlock and the entire San Joaquin Valley were hit hard by the recession. Avena Bella will strengthen the community of Turlock by creating local jobs and providing working families with a stable place to call home," said John Lazar, the Mayor of Turlock.

Local driving school owners will appear on Food Network show

Local driving school owners will appear on Food Network show

The Food Network will be using local driving school owners of the Hilmar/ Turlock G.E.T. Behind-The Wheel Driving School for their latest pilot and cable series, "Kitchen Inventors".

The series will be featuring food-related inventions that get tested out of the typical kitchen.  Inventors will perhaps have one of their products picked to hopefully get a licensing deal. The product for this episode, the Sippin' Snacker, combines a cup and a bowl together so that a person can eat and drink at the same time without using two hands.

The show hosts, (the first names of Patrick and Stephen are all that have been released), will be testing out the product while driving. The need for a certified driving instructor to grade their driving while using the product is where driving school owners, Richard and Christina Sargis will participate.  They are also owners of All Occasion's Limousine Services in the Turlock Modesto area.
