Stanislaus County Fair livestock exhibitor deadlines approaching

TURLOCK - Deadlines for independent junior livestock exhibitors are approaching quickly for the 2011 Stanislaus County Fair.

The deadline for Independent Exhibitors entering Market Beef at the Stanislaus County Fair is Thursday, March 17 at 5 p.m. The Deadline for Independent Exhibitors entering market sheep, pigs, goats, breeding livestock, rabbits and poultry is Monday, May 16 at 5 p.m. No online entries will be accepted for independent exhibitors. All entries and required information must be turned into the Fair office in person or by mail by the above deadlines.

For more information, such as registration forms and a list of the complete rules and requirements, please stop by the Stanislaus County Fair office at 900 N. Broadway, Turlock, or call (209) 668-1333, extension 316.

The 2011 Stanislaus County Fair opens for its 100th anniversary celebration Friday, July 15 for a 10-day run.

OAKDALE - Looking for a nice canine companion to keep you company on the couch? Or maybe an energetic jogging partner? Volunteers with the Oakdale Animal Shelter will hold an adoption event Saturday, March 12, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Walgreens on East F Street.

Come and meet some of the lovable adoptable pets from the Oakdale Shelter. You can view some of the pets ahead of time online.

OAKDALE - On Saturday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., come to Oakdale Walgreens, located at 444 West F Street, and meet some of the lovable dogs from the City of Oakdale Animal Shelter. Lovable canine companions in all colors and sizes will be waiting to meet you and be adopted into a new, forever home.

If you have already adopted a new pet into your family, bring them to Walgreens and receive a free 5x7 photo of your new family. Sponsors of the event are Big Basin Dog Training and Boarding, Oakdale Pet Station, and Pet Perfection.
